A courtyard space for an artist’s studio. The design is led by sight lines and energy flows emanating from the L shaped building. Outward reaching concrete strips embedded in a free draining gravel surface give direction and depth to the space without restricting its access and usefulness as a courtyard. Strategically placed groupings of Himalayan birch provide a vital third dimension.
