An mature italienate garden near Bath. During the 20th Century much of the herbaceous planting adorning the stone structures of the Edwardian garden was lost, exposing the simplicity and patinated beauty of the old walls and balustrades. A key element of the garden’s restoration was to harmonise the architectural stonework with the surviving mature planting through a process of planned formative pruning and clipping to create a magical setting of oversized topiaries and sprawling trees.
