About

Based in London, Augusto Calonder grew up in Bath, UK where he gained his first exposure to nature, gardens and art. Augusto studied at LSE, the University of Fribourg in Switzerland and the University of Gloucestershire where he qualified with a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture.

After completing his first commissions in England, he moved to Switzerland and was based there for 15 years working on landscape projects in the lake Geneva region and beyond.

Collaborating with leading architects and artists, Augusto worked extensively within historically and culturally sensitive contexts. His landscape projects are characterised by their elegant simplicity and their particular responsiveness to their natural settings.

Since 2020 Augusto’s work has been centred on research and writing about landscape and environmental philosophy with a particular focus on studying how people and nature can co-exist in a more harmonious and sustainable way. 

Augusto’s projects have been published in numerous international books and journals about landscape design. He has taught at the University of Bath, UK and was a guest critic at EPFL in Switzerland.
