Pure mountain
Fribourg, CH
At 4000ft nature has a different rhythm. The short growing season and cool mountain air dramatically curtail even the most resourceful gardener’s ambitions. Working with, rather than against the climatic constraints of the site, it was found that a characterful garden could be created by selectively mowing and clipping the resilient and beautiful native vegetation. Un-edged sinuous gravel paths add rhythm and definition to steep unruly slopes and a rustic potager bed, quite literally cut from the alpine turf identifies a solitary piece of cultivated ground.
