A secluded Arts and Crafts property near Bath. Following renovations to the house a plan was needed to better settle the house and its ‘garden rooms’ into the meadowland setting. In order to overcome the pre-existing separation of garden and landscape, various techniques were used to weave the garden into the surrounding fields. In some areas hedges were opened up to introduce meadow into the garden, in other areas new parallel hedge segments were planted to create framed distant views. New paths were projected into the meadowland and varied mowing regimes were introduced to redefine the progression of spaces between the garden and the surrounding fields.
